Arcadi Volodos auf dem Klavierfestival Ruhr 2020

Johann Sebastian Bach: Choral Prelude “Nun komm, der Heiden Heiland,” BWV 659 (arr. Busoni)
Johann Sebastian Bach: French Suite No. 5 in G major, BWV 816
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: Piano Sonata No. 5 in G major, KV 283
Ludwig van Beethoven: Piano Sonata No. 16 in G major, Op. 31 No. 1
Franz Liszt: Rhapsodie espagnole, S 254

Mona Asuka has a very special connection to the Klavier-Festival Ruhr, dating back to 2008, when—at just 17 years old—she stepped in for her colleague Elena Bashkirova and, with a recital featuring works by Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, and Liszt, caused an immediate sensation. To this day, a recording of this memorable debut concert exists.

The charismatic, open, and down-to-earth pianist from Munich, who communicates directly with her audience, has become a regular guest at the festival, with the Landschaftspark Duisburg-Nord—known for its blend of nature, industrial culture, and light—holding a special place in her heart. She was last heard at this unique location in May 2024, performing with her chamber music partners from the Goldmund Quartet in a program featuring works by Dmitri Shostakovich and Johannes Brahms. Her fans, both near and far, are excited that Mona Asuka will return to the Duisburg North once again for the 2025 festival edition.

Informations

Mona Asuka

Every artist has her own fuel: a fuel to drive her inspiration and give meaning to her very own artistic quest. In Mona Asuka’s case, it has always been a two-component fuel, consisting of personal experiences and those moments up on stage when she is able to feel the direct joy of the audience. After Asuka’s first experiences in concerts and competitions she first appeared as a soloist with an orchestra when she was thirteen years old. The list of acclaimed orchestras she played with has steadily grown since her years of study with Karl- Heinz Kämmerling in Salzburg and Bernd Glemser in Würzburg. She worked with the Staatskapelle Weimar, the Philharmonia Orchestra London, the Hong Kong Philharmonic, the Mozarteumorchester Salzburg and the Musikkollegium Winterthur.
