What do the two have in common? Total dedication to music, whether it be as soloists, in collaboration with renowned orchestras and conductors, or performing in chamber music ensembles. Julia Fischer and Jan Lisiecki are peerless on each of their instruments. Lisiecki, the Canadian pianist with Polish roots, has been invited to return to the Festival each year since his first performance here in 2015. This season we will have the pleasure of welcoming him twice. After his Dortmund concert with the Basel Chamber Orchestra, Lisiecki will return to the Festival for the 16th time – on this occasion, in the company of an exceptional chamber music partner. Julia Fischer is not only one of the most sought-after violinists of her generation; she also plays piano at the highest level. Thus, in this recital, she will join Lisiecki in Schubert’s Fantasia in F Minor for piano four hands. Jan Lisiecki raves about their collaboration. “Each one of us allows themselves to be inspired by the other one, and we arrive at something different, something fresh and new, since each one of us brings in their own perspective on a work.” We are thus immensely looking forward to this premiere duo evening.
