The US-American Christian Sands makes his debut at the piano festival with his quartet. In addition to bassist Yasushi Nakamura and drummer Clarence Penn, he will be joined by the famous guitarist Marvin Sewell.
Sands, a protégé of the great Billy Taylor, is one of the most sought-after modern mainstream pianists on the scene. After completing his Master’s degree at the Manhattan School of Music, he began touring worldwide, was a member of bassist Christian McBride’s trio and accompanied the star among today’s jazz singers, Gregory Porter. The title track of his current album “Be Water” was nominated for a Grammy in the “Best Instrumental Composition” category. He will certainly not withhold it from us.
