“That’s exactly why I do it. It’s a gift,” says the teacher about his student.
The teacher: Igor Levit, lecturer in Hanover. The student: Lukas Sternath, born in Vienna and named an “ECHO Rising Star” in Europe’s leading concert halls until the summer of 2025.
Sternath made a sensational breakthrough in 2022 when he won the ARD competition, securing not only First Prize but also seven special prizes, including the Audience Award.
As a member of the Vienna Boys’ Choir, Sternath discovered his love for music. His path at the piano quickly led to success—what started as a hobby has become “a great privilege to be able to live this dream.” One of his secrets to success? Sternath states it plainly: “Singing has always been a very, very important part of my life.”
