The Grandbrothers are a duo based in Düsseldorf – a pianist and a sound artist seeking the “union of old and new”. And their aim is to “find infinity in limitation.”
Limitation? Yes, because the source of all sounds is the piano. However, they have developed this further by equipping the grand piano with electromechanical hammers. Their signals are sent directly to the laptop and various devices, where they are processed further. The result is cascades of sound that are driven by beats. Harmonic surfaces are layered on top of each other to create intoxicating sound architectures. The Grandbrothers will make the whole room vibrate.
